Are you looking for something to get your early elementary aged students ready to study history?

This guide is the perfect introduction to a time before history was written down--a time where legend and myth ruled and were used to understand the world around them. It will take students into a world full of magic, talking animals, dragons and trolls, and so much more as they explore the fascinating stories that are passed down orally through the generations. From the mythical creatures of Greek mythology to the enchanting animal stories of Africa and the heroic tales of ancient China, this guide offers a rich tapestry of cultural diversity. It includes folk tales, creation stories and mythology from every region in every continent.

This study designed as a year long study reading 2 stories a week totaling 72 stories over the school year. A very large resource list is included for each continents providing many great options from which to pick your stories--anthologies, individual picture books, and audio folk tale productions from the children’s radio show Circle Round. It is based in Charlotte Mason principles using the practice of narration to help the student engage and retain the stories. It also includes some basic map work to help the child remember the continents and where the stories all take place.
